Keeping Your Dog Happy, Healthy, and Cozy This Fall
Fall has arrived! There’s nothing better than pulling on your favorite sweater after a long summer and grabbing a cozy blanket, but the cooler weather brings some unique health considerations for your pet.
Keeping Them Warm
It’s best to leave a blanket out for your dog if they’re spending any supervised time outdoors. Fall often brings pleasant weather during the day, but temperatures can drop rapidly after dark, so make sure not to leave your pet outdoors for extended periods of time.
Seasonal Treats
While the Halloween candy might be tasty to us humans, keep it out of your pet’s reach. Likewise, be mindful that any seasonal decorations you put out don’t contain parts that can be easily chewed off. Ingesting foreign objects like plastic and batteries can cause intestinal blockages and lead to an emergency vet visit.
Outdoor Hazards
Fall is the perfect season for long walks in the woods, and you might also see more animals than usual as they get ready for hibernation. Make sure your dog is on a leash and supervise them at all times to ensure they don’t eat any nuts, flowers or mushrooms they may find on the forest floor or in your backyard. Exercise extreme caution when using products like rodenticide or anti-freeze.
Indoor Playtime
As the weather continues to cool off and playtime with your pet moves indoors, make sure they have an appropriate food and water intake for the amount of activity they’re doing. Keep them playful and active with Playology’s scented toys, designed to engage dogs for 7x longer than unscented toys! Our fall scents are the perfect addition to your indoor play sessions.
